Beneath the Surface They Are as Different as Fudge and Poop

Both of these services change the actions of regular hot links into uber-links of sorts. Though they might seem similar on the surface, it seems that while Snap Shots purpose is to make links more helpful and useful while keeping the reader on your site, SmartLinks (I can't stop thinking ShitLinks) seem to have the purpose of driving traffic from the page containing the links to any of numerous other sites that they no doubt have financial agreements with. AdaptiveBlue's SmartLinks act like launch pads away from your site while Snap.com's Snap Shots are like tethers allowing users to get just the info you want but keeping them on your site in the process.  Read more ...

Disaster Struck The Revolution and I Struck It Back!

Earlier this week I was at a meeting to work on the new Refresh San Diego website with a few of the others from the group. The new Refresh site is running Drupal as is TheRevolution.US, so when I saw the resident Drupal Developer Harry Slaughter using this really cool update status module on the Refresh site I decided to install it on this site. I got a little ahead of myself, forgot to backup the site, and screwed up the database! There went about a month of work on the site since my last backup!  Read more ...
